1956 Maserati 200 SI
It’s not uncommon to come across customers who consider their cars to be their baby, and you might have to take extra care to make sure their car comes out in perfect shape so they drive away happy. But on some occasions, you might have the chance to work on a car so rare and unique that you can understand how they could call it their baby. It will feel like every push or tap-down you make needs to be done with pinpoint accuracy, just to ensure 100% restoration and no signs of the previous damage.
In this picture, Michael had an opportunity to work on a1956 Maserati racecar, with a dent in the back that was about the size of a dinner plate. Of course, once you get past the idea that you’re working on such a special vehicle (estimated value at that time was around $1,000,000), it’s easier to get the job done correctly. This car had an aluminum body, and favorable access to the dent, so pushing the dent out would be similar to any other car you’ll work with. The obvious difference, of course, is that when you complete the work, you’ll have a much better story to tell.
